The next generation Apple iPhone is coming this fall! If you have been keeping up with the tech news, you should know that Apple is considering the removal of the 30-pin dock connector which has been used in Apple products for a while now, and switching over to a smaller dock connector. This smaller dock connector is going to be used on the 5th generation iPod Touch which is expected later this year. Not only does Apple want to make their products look good, Apple also wants to make their products thin, as seen in the iPhone 4 when its thickness is compared to the iPhone 3GS.
According to iLounge, Apple is working on making the next iPhone a lot thinner and and longer which means that there most likely be a larger screen. The next gen iPhone is going to be thinner than the iPhone 4s. The approximate measurements of it's thickness is 7.4mm thick. At a thickness of 7.4mm, the iPhone 5 is going to be about 20% thinner than the iPhone 4S which is 9.3mm thick.
Apple is also planning on adding a metal back plate instead of the glass back plate it currently has on their 4S. Apple was also considering using Corning's Gorilla Glass on future iPhones, and it looks like they will. For the 4-inch display that is said to be featured on the next iPhone, Corning's Gorilla Glass 2 will provide strength for the screen. So if you drop it, you wont have to worry about the screen cracking as you would have with previous iPhone models. sounds interesting right? don't you just wonder what other things Apple will surprise us with?
